The Gold Coast Holiday and Luxury Accommodation
The Gold Coast holiday and family accommodation in the northern suburbs are also very popular with families. The Southport region is divided into two main areas by the Southport Broadwater. On the ocean side is the Southport Spit which has some of Australia’s most exclusive resort accommodation, as well as being the location of the Seaworld theme park and resort. It is also where you find the bulk of the Gold Coast’s marina complex’s and the place to join cruises and charters that operate in the area. On the inshore side of the Broadwater is the Southport commercial area which is the main commercial area for the region. As you drive north from here towards Hope Island, you pass through suburbs like Labrador, Runaway Bay and Sanctuary Cove. All of these have a wide choice of holiday accommodation, most of which is located right on the calm waterfront provided by the Southport Broadwater. Places like Sanctuary Cove have sensational golf resorts and is home of the annual Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, which is Australia’s largest.
The central Gold Coast region is the busiest tourist hotspot. Main Beach, with its legendary beach, is a sought after holiday destination. Surfers Paradise is the best known holiday destination on the Gold Coast and couples one of the world's best known surfing beaches with iconoc holiday resorts, shopping and restaurant scene. Broadbeach is now similar to Surfers Paradise but not quite as busy and Broadbeach now attracts many of the experienced tourists who holiday in the region.
To the south of Surfers Paradise, the holiday strip stretches all the way to Kingscliff in Northern New South Wales. Suburbs like Mermaid Beach, Burleigh Heads, Miami and Palm Beach all have their own supply of beachfront accommodation. Some are larger than others but all have the magical attraction of a superb surfing beach right on their doorstep. The southern end of the Gold Coast is special and one of the best family holiday destinations in the country. It has its own airport with regular flights to southern capitals which is located at Coolangatta close to the beach. Adjoining Coolangatta to the south is Tweed Heads, its twin northern NSW town which is located on the estuary of the Tweed River and this gives it a special attraction as its aquatic sporting facilities are second to none. Just south of Tweed Heads lies Salt beach which lies at Kingscliff, often described as the best beach in the Country. All three of these southern Gold Coast suburbs are great tourist destinations and have superb accommodation in many different beachfront locations.
Last, but certainly not least is the magnificent magnificent Hinterland. The Great Dividing Range runs north south, parallel to the Gold Coast’s beautiful beaches and provide a rainforest covered backdrop to the hustle and bustle of the coastal strip. This is the place to find quiet mountain resorts and health spas set in a spectacular location and surrounded by tall eucalyptus forests, high rocky escarpments, waterfalls and loads of local wildlife. The views from the lookouts here provide panoramic vistas over the beachside suburbs that make up the Gold Coast region. No matter which region of the Gold Coast attracts you and your family to come and stay for your next holiday, you can be sure that some superb luxury Gold Coast accommodation will be waiting for you.
